What is it: Visual Aids or Checking Aids, is used to show with images where key measurements are taken on the part.
Why use it: The Visual Aids diagram is generally used in conjunction with a Process Control Plan (PCP) for assistance in determining the location of the checking aids or measurement aids on a part. A Visual Aids diagram will have reference to checking Aid Identification number and location of the ID number on the image. Visual aids also have the purposes of showing problems before they occur, the problems are not hidden. Where to use it: Visual Aids diagrams are usually used a checking part station at the end of a process task for aiding in the completion of measurements and quality checks of the production part. When to use it: Visual Aids are used at a production quality gate or end of a production operation.
