What is it: Breakpoint, is a notification placed on a product to represent a revision of specifications from the previous supplied product.
Why use it: Breakpoints are used to let the customer know that the incoming product will be different from previous deliveries, this may include improvements made to the parts, corrections of non conformances previously found with the part or even cost saving initiatives such as the removal of items from the part assembly. Where to use it: It is used on the outside the delivered parts sent directly to the customer. When to use it: Is used when there is a change from an existing or previously existing specifications or quality standard, that requires identification using the Breakpoint Material Label detailing the reason for the Breakpoint. How to use it: The supplier must always get agreement before delivery from the customer. Once this has been completed the following are carried out:
