The “Brainstorming Template Package” delivers professionally produced, ready to use templates in a production or office environment. The Brainstorming Template will assist in a structured environment difficult to solve problems by using a few easy to use techniques.
What is it: Brainstorming is a technique for generating a large number of creative ideas with a group or team of people. Brainstorming can also be used to idenfiy alternatives, obtain a complete list of items and to solve problems. Brainstorming involves creating an atmosphere in which people feel uninhibited and free to propose the sort of wild and improbable solutions to problems that often point to the best course of action. The technique requires some practice and skill to use effectively but is not difficult if the guidelines are followed.
Why use it: To generate a “storm” of ideas or thoughts.
Break through traditional thinking about a problem.
Benerate new ways of thinking.
Provide an environment for building on new ideas.
Reduce the tendency to prematurely discard new ideas.
Facilitate team building.
Encourage team problem solving.
Where to use it: Generating ideas for difficult to solve problems by an individual and identifying opportunities in the business.
When to use it: Anytime a team/group needs to identify sources of data, potential causes of problems, or possible solutions.
Developing the solution definition, particularly in identifying alternative solutions.
Identifying all potential risks on a project.
Developing the work breakdown structure (identifying all the deliverables and work items).
Dealing with difficult problems that arise during the course of the project.
How to use it: Brainstorming is a tool used to generate a large number of idea from members of a group in a structured manner using the basic steps below:
The group elects a facilitator to conduct session.
Write the topic & short purpose of brainstorming on a board or fillip chart.
Members (by turn) to suggest one idea at a time.
Note down suggestion.
After turn of all members, repeat another cycle.
A member having no fresh idea , may pass.
Ideas not to be evaluated at this time, but may be clarified if not clear.
The process is continued till all members pass.
Important Notes:
Establish a clear objective for the brainstorming session to ensure the group is focused.
Round-robin brainstorming works best. Each person offers one, and only one, idea in turn. This keeps an individual from monopolizing the session.
